Default front strut mount

okay i have a question i was told my right front strut mount was bad so my dad put on a new one but im not sure if he did it right there was a small round metal i wanna say plate looking thing he didnt use and now while im driving its constantly squeaking or scratching is the noise i hear... it drives me nuts... does anyone know what that noise could be... could it be loose... did he have to use that part? i asked him about it and he said he didnt know what that part was for or if that noise was coming from that but i drive that car everyday i know every little thing that car does and that noise started the day that mount got put in and is coming from that area... any ideas?

Doesn't sound like it was put together right. If you got the right strut parts for your car, then all the parts that came off or would go on should be used. Is it possible that the other strut is making the noise?

Sometime when your dad isn't around, take the LF strut apart, paying attention to how it was assembled. Then fix the RF. What was it doing before he took it apart? Have you considered looking at an exploded view of a strut assy?

Sounds like you are missing half of the bearing plate. I would NOT drive it anymore until it is fixed! You will have to get a new mount, as the old one has probably been damaged.

i haven't looked at a strut assembly diagram or anything i tried to find one on line but was having a hard time... and before we put a new one on it was making a noise when i turned the wheel and i had it checked and they said it was bad and binding when i would turn thus causing it to make that noise and now is making a different noise like its loose almost not when im turning but when the car is moving.
