What should i look for before buying a 2002 SSEI Bonneville

i ready to buy a 2002 ssei bonneville, ive always love the looks and style of this car and finally have some money saved up to buy one of these babies, theres a dealer selling one with only 21K on the motor, what are some of the things i should look out for before i buy, thanks for all the help

Well, since the factory warranty is still in effect, I would look for things that you would have to fix out of your own pocket. For instance, look at things like tires, brake pads and rotors, and belts. Aside from that man, I don't know what to tell you. :?

With 21k on the ticker, If you don't hear anything out of the ordinary, and everything seems fine, buy the sucker!

That's pretty much what I did with my 01 SSEi that had 18K on it. Only real cautionary problems with the +00 bonnevilles are that I hear that some trunks leak water in when opened and wet, and I'd recomend taking the car for a test drive on the highway and checking for any kind of vibration, some cars have a problem with this also.
Other than that, Enjoy your new ride. I know I do.

yeah im looking foward to getting this car, so besides the normal things to look for, is there any known problems that i should look for besides the leaky trunk and vibration on highway speeds?

Not a lot of complaints out there for 2000+ SC, but this 2000+ Mech and Maint forum should give you an idea on anything that members may have ran into

Or just get it, and if something happens, turn to BC...we have a whack of gearheads that love to diagnose problems and lend a hleping word (or hand if they can)

I have an 02 SE. I received a recall notification about the coolant gasket (?) or something like that, and there is a TSB for the stearing "groan" or "pop", since you are still in GM's warranty though should'nt be a problem.

Probably the best thing you can do is find out from the dealer the name of the guy that traded in an '02 SSEi with only 21K on the clock, and talk to him/her about the car.......people trade in cars for all kinds of reasons...but I'm pretty sure it's a law that a dealer has to give you the name of the previous owner[mine did, when I bought my '00 SSEi with 36K miles,in July].Just give a good road test, check ALL of the features/systems on the car for working order...........then buy the car,....but if you are thinking of buying it,act quickly...it definately Won't last long on the lot[my car was on the lot one day, when I saw it,I tested it out that evening, and cut the deal right then,...a guy showed up the next day to buy it....and,sorry amigo,it was SOLD 8) ]..........these cars kick-ass!!
