Default ELC trick for 00+ is happening when I don't want it

Since my dad and I switched cars, he noticed that the back end has jacked itself up ever since he had it on the hoist. Even with the weight back on it after it was lowered to the ground, it does not go down. If he takes out the schreider valve in the trunk, it lowers to the correct level. What do I need to do?

was the car driven after being on the hoist? These cars don't settle back down until moved several feet.

If it doesn't settle back down, it'* likely the ELC control near the rear driver'* side wheel. They've been known to be an issue, and unfortunately are not adjustable. I don't know if anyone has tried taking it off and attempting to clean it.

Edit - Here'* a link on replacing it.

You can try it, but it is pretty well sealed. You'll likely have to replace it.

Andrew, for the trouble, if $25'ish isn't a prob, contact Morad or check his ebay store -he had one on there for a long time, but I haven't checked lately. I have to order one for my 99 also -hopefully he still has one for my generation.

You may also want to try recalibrating. There is a procedure available IIRC in the Tech 2. You'll need to go into the Rear Integration Module, then Special Functions if I'm not mistaken. You might want to give this a shot before taking everything apart.

Darcy, do you think it could be something that he did when he was messing around on the Tech2? He has had my car on the scanner a lot these last couple weeks.

It'* unlikely that anything your dad did with the scan tool caused this (unless he did a relearn with the car on the hoist). There are however several things that may be a problem. If you can access a scan tool, you should check the function of the ALC exhaust valve to make sure it'* working. Also, as I mentioned before, you can try an ALC relearn. If these don't solve the problem and you end up replacing the sensor, you will need to perform the ALC relearn anyway.

If you're not in a hurry, I'm bringing my Tech 2 with me when I head down that way.
