What did I do wrong?

Just completed UIM,LIM and water pump replacement on 2000 SE with 133000 miles.
The car now shifts really weird. At one time I was just over 3500rpm before it upshifted.
It also did not want to downshift when I go hard on the gas pedal. The check engine soon light also came on. Any clues? :?:

That is really odd, i do not see how the LIM and UIM could be related to transmission issues, im thinking that it may just be a coincidence.... get the code read for teh check engine light and report back with the proper code numbers and perhaps we can get you up and running smooth again

advance and autozone should both scan the codes for free

I would guess its not related to the gaskets and water pump per se, but some of the other things that get touched in the process (sensors, connectors, fuel injectors, etc.). Double-check the electrical connectors which may have been disconnected are fully inserted.

Check the TPS connection in particular.

Could the EGR not be sealed correctly?

What happens when you take the oil cap off with the motor running?

You guys rock!! I guess it was the TPS? I repositioned it before calling it a night.
When I started it this morning the check engine light had gone off and she idled and ran like a champ. But get this, I rechecked the coolant elbows and the rear one is showing signs of leaking.(I changed both elbows) I guess I'll be pulling the tensioner assembly again this weekend. Oh well, at least I'm learning how to work on my own car. Thanks for all of your help and ideas. ;)

good to hear you got it all cleared up! glad we could help

It smelled like a TPS connector. On the coolant elbow, it's a best practice here lately to apply some rtv sealant to the o-rings during insertion. Wait thirty minutes before starting.

Thanks for the help.

Sweet, I'm all over it! 8)
Also, do you guys use RTV when doing water pumps

While I don't and procedure calls for a dry gasket, some do and have good luck. I've had no problems with dry.
