Weird starting problem
On some occasions when I go to start my car it will not catch until you give it some gas, then you have to keep your foot on the gas or it will die. Then after about 5 minutes you can drive but it wants to idle at 400-500 RPMs
Once it warms up and you turn the car off, and start again everything is completely normal
I cleaned my throttle body spottless in the fall and I don't have this problem unless it is above about 35 to maybe about 55 but that is just a guess
I want to scan it to see what is going on with the engine but it always happens when I am leaving school. Remote start fails when this happens so if the car isn't running when I go out I know why
also no SES lights or anything else unusual other than smelling a bit rich after I get in and start it manually after the remote start failed

Yah I did like 3 times, first time I just cleaned the IAC, then a few days later cleaned it again, still didn't fix the problem so the third time I took the whole TB off and cleaned it really well, including the IAC passage which was pretty dirty
It'* not consistant so thats why I can't seem to narrow it down to the dirty TB again or something else

In carboreated cars, its very easy to "flood" the engine. But with fuel injectors its impossible. What may be happening is that you have a leaky O ring on an injector letting fuel into the cyl when the rail has pressure and the engine is not running. When you pump the gas pedal to start a carb car its normal. But for a PCM waiting to command the injectors, the computer sees it as whats called a "clear flood mode". For some reason the engineers building todays cars command it to do the opposite. Its kind of complicating and im not sure im explaining it well. basically if you hold the gas down while cranking the engine in a fuel injected car, the computer will not pulse the injectors therefore, it cuts fuel all together. So if you have too much fuel, the engine is flooded, when you hold the gas it lives with the amount of fuel in the cylinder washes it over as the engine is cranking and eventually gets a "happy" amount of air/fuel mixture then it fires. That may be the most logical idea to look for.

To clear things up, after the remote start trys 3 times it shuts down and then it is flooded, or at least too rich to start
While I understand all that info in your post what exactly is your point? It isn't an O ring because it is not consistantly happening, just on random occaisons within a certain temperature range

im sorry i didn't read it thoroughly i thought it was happening consistently. Would you say it happens more in the cold? It sounds like fuel to me though. How long does it sit between issues?

Have you checked for fuel leaking at the Fuel Pressure Regulator?

Thats ok, the weird thing is there is no way to predict it, the only thing I can think that is always the same is it is usually a warmer morning and there is a lot of road spray on the way to school, then when I go to leave is when I have the problem
maybe something with moisture?
