This is the one thing that sucks about having the SLE is the 17 inch wheels. Tires are more expensive. I like my 94 with the 16 inch wheels. Anyway, I don't have much choice with these sizes. P235/55/17. Looks like it'* down to the Michelin Energy MXV4 PLUS, or the Pilot MXM4. Emphasis is on the All season performance. Don't care about speed rating or high performance. I want to get them at Costco and that'* all their selection. I wish I could get BF Goodrich but don't make the size.

I'm sure there fine tires but they seemed to be geard more torwards performance. How are they in the winter and how long do they last. Performane tires don't have the treawear of touring.

I dont recommend you using 235 55 R17 in winter(depend how much you have snow), i wait a bit long before putting my winter tire and its like running on a crazy carpet.

Mine are goodyear Eagle LS or RS/A (dont remember exactly) and they are not supposed to be performance tire, but im able to get 2.1 on the 60foot.

I use michellin tires, havent had a problem with them, even on deep[1-1/2foot]snow, havent had a problem or ice.

i got these in AUG. of 05 , bought them at COSTCO

(got my new tires today (BFG 255/50ZR17 G FORCE KDWS)
had 65k on the Michelin (235/55HR17) darn good tire , just wanted a wider tire and the BFG'* only set me back $132.00 a tire. the BFG'* have the same treadwear rating (400) as the Michelin'* so i hope to get about the same mileage. the car looks good with the wider tires, GM should have offered the 255'* as a option. did i say the car looks GOOD ! )

have 8200 miles on them now , love how they handle on the wet or dry roads.

the downside of a wider tire is they are not as good in the snow.. the wider tire sits on top of the snow more, whereas a narrower tire cuts though it. its like an ice skate vs sneakers.

I just got 4 new tires about 10 days ago, since then it'* snowed over six inches twice! I love these tires, and haven't slid an inch yet. Great winter tires and so far have been great on dry pavement. They are very quiet and smooth at high speeds. Anywho, my local Ford dealer (my buddy is a mechanic there) matched tirerack.com'* sale price of $106 each for the W rated, so I got 4 Z rated tires, a 4 wheel alignment, and installation for $595 including tax!

how true that is why i would have winter tires and wheels(you can get them cheap)nothing fancy, and a summer tire and wheel combo. thats what my brother who lives in Kansas does. i dont have to drive in the snow with my wifes car, we use my truck togo to the snow. but back to tires, in the wet or dry the BFG'* are a good tire.

Mike Peperni, You have the GoodYear Eagle R-SA'* (stock tires on the early 2000+ SSEi'* & SLE'*), which are performance oriented tires.
