Default how long does it take for cruise control to engage?

on my Park Ave, it is instant. The moment I hit the set button, the light on the dash comes on, and cruise takes over.

on my Bonne, it takes a good 3-4 seconds before it engages. It is rather annoying since you don't really know if it worked until it takes over since there is no light. If I push the SET button and let off the gas at the same time, doing 55mph, it will slow down to 51mph before engaging. Any way to change this?

Default what activates the drivers-side heated mirror?

how do you activate the heated rear view mirror? Does it turn on with the rear defrost? I'm sure it probbably in my manual, but I don't have access to it right now.

In my bonneville the cruise control is instant... not sure about the heated mirror thing, I also wondered when or how it worked.

My cruise comes on right away - press the set button, release, take foot off the gas, and it'* on. The heated mirrors are activated when you turn on the rear window defrost, as you suspected.

Heated mirrors are on the same circuit as rear defrost. Makes sense. You use the mirrors and the rear window to see out back.

On the cruise, your servo may be getting sticky/tired. It has to take up the slack in the cable before it can take over. Vacuum leaks can also affect it'* responsiveness.

yes, I meant for them to be 2 topics, not sure how that happened. Too late now to split them. (you didn't get my PM before logging off Mark )

I would like to figure out how to make my cruise work properly. Any ideas? Otherwise I'm off to the FSM.

Defrost and heated mirrors are somewhat complex on the 2K+ Bonneville. The defrost button actually sends a class 2 message over the data bus to the RIM. The RIM activates the rear defrost relay, then sends another class 2 message back to the climate control module with an instruction to turn on the indicator.

At the same time, a class 2 message is sent to the driver door module (this acts as the gateway between the car and the four doors). The DDM will turn on the heater for the driver mirror (the heating element is controlled by the DDM). At the same time, the DDM will send a message on a serial bus exlcusive to the four door modules instructing the passenger door module to power up the passenger heating element.

If your speed remains above 50km/hr, power will remain to the defrost circuit. If not, they will shut off automatically after I believe 5-10 minutes.

Clear as mud?

Yup, sounds like something is wrong with your cruise control. As with everyone else here, mine is instant and I don't lose any speed.

I'll have to check the FSM. It'* on my other laptop though so I don't have it right in front of me. At first thought, there may be excessive play in the linkage between the cruise control module and engine. This unit is an electromechanical module so if it engages and holds, you can pretty much eliminate the electrical end of things. As willwren mentioned, the servo may be weak. How did it work before your engine mods?

Who knows The only reason I noticed it was lagging was from driving the PA so much.
