Water leaking into car now
 

When my dad first got the car, he had the problem of water leaking into the trunk, specifically into the spare tire well. He got it fixed and there haven't been any problems with leaks until today.

I washed the car today (pictures will be up soon) and noticed that the rear driver's side floor carpet was soaking wet! :x

I vacuumed everything up as well as I could and it's airing out.

My dad had problems with the sunroof (got stuck) and thinks that it may be related because it seems like there is a gap.

What areas should I check/test for leaks to hopefully find the problem?

Sounds like a plugged drain tube.

The leak is in my 2000. Sorry, I should have stated that.

Thanks for pointing me to that. There were so many threads about it but I wasn't sure which one was the right one.

Bad news today.

It has been pouring all day here so I had to drive (I normally ride my bike as it's not that far). Anyways, I got out of work and hopped into the driver's seat and was greeted with a huge spot of water!

I look up and can see that water is now also leaking in around the headliner and the sunroof area. :x

I go to check the rear driver's side area as that was where the main leak was before and sure enough, there was an inch of standing water! :shock:

I've cleaned everything up as much as I can and am waiting for my dad to come out and check it out on Sunday. I'm taking summer classes and working two jobs right now so I really need this leak fixed ASAP. Doing it myself isn't an option as I have nowhere to work on it and no tools either.

My question is, how much do you think it would cost to fix everything at a reputable local shop?

I'm pretty sure the headliner and the carpet would need to be torn out to get the rest of the water out and find the leak. Also, the sunroof is slightly out of alignment so it would need to lined up properly and resealed I would guess.

Sorry for the long rant but this is just so frustrating! :evil:

Pull the interior out yourself, its not hard, just takes some time. Don't pay a shop to do it.

My dad came out today and we finally figured out the problem.

He had problems with the sunroof motor before so he told me to NEVER touch it and I listened to him. He takes a look at it and realizes that the sunroof was never closed all the way. :lol:

However, the sunroof still needs to be fixed because it's not lining up enough when it closes. I'm going to close it up with some rubber sealant for the time being.

put the sunroof in vent mode, you will see 6 screws on the bottom side near the track, use those to adjust the alignment. DO NOT USE RUBBER SEALANT, that's just dumb.
