Default Running With No CAT??

Hi guys,

I know it'* not street legal, but have any of you cut your cat out and replaced it with a straight pipe? You'd have to put an O2 simulator on the downstream sensor but other than that will it have any ill effects on performance?

Some say there'* a gain. I think the gain will depend greatly upon the setup.

Most sim'* are tough to find these days with the EPA cracking down on them. Programming out the code is another good way to keep the light from popping up.

2002BONNY;

If you have emission requirements where you live you may want to think about going to a hi-flow cat rather than taking this one out. I know in some states they actually inspect your exhaust and if you have something missing, like a cat; they will fail you irregardless of the actual sampling results.

Please add your year and trim of your vehicle to your signature line. That way when you start asking questions in other areas of the forum, we all have a better idea on how to assist you. Click on "Quick Links" above, go down to "User Control Panel" and then click on "Edit your Signature" It'* pretty straight forward from there.

You will get nearly the same results with a good over sized free flow cat, and still be leagle.

Alabama couldn't care less if you removed one. Almost every sportscar with an exhaust mod has those removed. I wouldn't though unless you were making so major power because a friend of mine dynoed his eclipse turbo with the car and the readings were 180ish hp. After removing the cat it was 170ish lol go figure.

I dont know about the newer models but my 95 loves the cat being removed. It has a noticable tourqe gain. The only downside is Ive been pulled over twice by two different cops for loud exaust. So high flow cat is coming soon!

I bet, did you get a ticket for that? The cops around my house don't bother with it. I bought a 1996 honda accord in birmingham a few years ago and drove it all the way to north alabama with no cat or muffler lol..........i can still hear the noise in my nightmares.
