Default Warning Lights coming on left and right. argh

Our 2000 SSEi has just had a bunch of warning lights turn on within the past few days. It first started off with "check gas cap" in the driver information center that is on all the time, checked the gas cap, it seems fine. Before that, about 2 weeks ago, the "service security system" was on the DIC for a while, and now the Service Engine Soon light is on all the time and won't go out, in addition to the "check gas cap." THe gas cap seems fine, so it seems to me that something else is having a problem with a leak in the fuel system releasing pressure? the car seems to run fine when driving, it just has a rougher idle (rougher in comparision to my 97, the SSEi has a little bit of a vibration to it.) It had problems with wanting to stall out when new but it'd catch itself at around 500 RPM then the RPM'* would shoot up to 1,500 and stay there and fluctuate back and forth. Going to take it into autozone today for a free scan. anyone else have any similar problems though?

sounds a bit like bad gas or improper seal on you gas cap? better to have it checked out, tell us the codes when you get them.

"emissions control system" was the error code description, replaced the gas cap for $8 and the problem went away. Go figure.

MY gas gauge is off (reads full or E) from the DIC and it keeps setting the "gas cap" when it goes below 3/4 tank. So glad to hear the cap worked for you.
