Default passenger window will not go down

just as i get my new rims put on my bonneville it starts acting up. it started missing out and now the window on the passenger side will not work. any one know what this could be or a way to find out if it is the switch or the motor. like i said i just got my 20" Jessie James wheels so this really stinks. i have ben gone for a long time but i am back. thanks

I would guess that the regulator is bad.....happens way to often on gm cars in this era, so I'd probably start withat route.

use a rubber mallet and bang on the door panel while you depress and hold the window switch, this will free the dead spot in the motor most of the times.

I have had the same problem with both of my rear windows. For the one on the passenger side, it ended up being a faulty regulator, which as soon as it decided to go down one day, it stayed down as a result of the broken regulator. On the other side though, I changed the motor and it has been working fine ever since (knock on wood). I wood suggest that you invest in a new regulator, even though it might be a dead spot in the motor, the regulator is surely to give out on you someday so might as well. :?

Default window problem

I read the post and see alot of rear window regulator problems. Do the front windows have regulator problems or is it just the motors? Still experiencing an intermittent problem of the window not working.

Please ...don't bang on the door panel. That is most likely only going to cause dents.

There was another 00+ that had a stickey or inoperative front window. The window motor bolts were loosened and retightened, the window then worked fine. It appears that the motor was in a bad position and may have bound up after enough use.

There is also a possibility that the regulator is going bad. If that appears to be the case..the gearheads would like to work with you as you are looking at it to possibly rebuild it like the rears.

Most times, when the front windows don't work, they are bound up mechanically. As Bill mentioned, remove the door panel, remove the screws that hold the motor on the regulator (you'll hear sort of a pop when you do as the tension lets loose), then put the motor back in, and tighten the screws. Most times that will solve the problem. If not, we'll move on from there.
