tune up nightmare

i was just planning on replacing the plugs and wires hoping it wouldn't take that long. But here i am with 5 plugs and wires changed and we cant get the stupid boot off number 6. Anybody have any suggestions how to get the number 6 boot off? Also are there any aftermarket boots to replace them with that are easier to remove.

#6 isn't the hardest one on the rear bank for you. Twist and pull. The best technique I know is to get right on top of the motor (old blanket helps) and dive in.

Make sure you use dielectric grease inside the new boots to make this easier the next time.

well number 6 isnt coming out we eventually got the other 5 out. This one is the hardest for us.

It helps if you remove the rear hoist bracket. I did mine the way Bill said..... twist it. With the rear bracket off you should be able to get more access.

i got some channel locks, locked on and then took a bar to put torque on the channel locks.

I have always found #6 to be the hardest as well. If you remove the rear bracket (2 10mm bolts) it will be a lot easier. Unless you are planning on pulling the engine I'd just leave the bracket off. Its only other function is to hold the sight sound shield cover on and you're not running with that on right?....RIGHT?

ill check that out when i try to change that last one today.

I don't want to hijack this thread but what is the downfall of keeping the engine cover on?

This may help him decide whether or not to put the bracket back on too...

just because its a cover. engines dont want covers. they wanna be seen. especially the queen of the ball, the supercharger. plus I found mine to hold in a lot, i mean a lot of unwanted heat to the engine. OK, BACK on subject!!!!!! tune ups speeking of, I need to do mine before the track this weekend. Good advice about the engine brackets. mine are coming off. Un needed weight too!!!
