Help - Oil Pan Removal - Right Bracket
I am replacing my oil pan gasket.
That bracket that is bolted on the right side of the oil pan.. Is it an actual motor mount? How do you get that off??
I started turning the two bolts that bolt it to the pan and I can tell there is pressure/weight where that bracket bolts to the pan. What'* the correct way to get bracket assembly off?
Thanks.. Patrick

The fsm is calling that the Torque Converter Cover. Does that sound right? Renoval of the torque converter cover is the first step in the procedure for the Oil Pan replacement. There are two bolts that secure the right engine mount bracket that appear to attach to the oil pan right side.

Just making sure I am not fixing to cause a problem here.

I checked at AllData, and they simply state to remove that bracket. There was no mention of having to support the engine. Here'* the link if you're interested.

Sorry, no. I've not had to replace that gasket, yet. (Looks for some wood to knock on). If in doubt, I'd think supporting the engine and transmission with a block of wood on top of a jack onto the transmission pan should support things well enough.

Hopefully someone who has done this will chime in. Like to get some real world experience here.. Patrick..

You mean these two bolts? They're probably loaded in shear and need the weight taken off of them.
That bracket apparently attaches to this engine mount.
