Default Stripped tensioner pulley bolt.

So today i decided to change my supercharger oil and the supercharger coupler. All went well until i went to put everything together. I didn't really see the bolts on the tensioner pulleys but a 1/4" allen fit into it nicely and worked fine to get the SC belt off. but when i went to put it on, STRIPPED. So now im assuming these bolts actually require a pretty large torx bit?

I've read on here that you can drive the car without the belt on and the only thing you lose is the supercharger. Im not really trying to drive it too much without the belt on, probably just to the mechanic. Ive read something on here about using a bolt extractor to get the stripped bolt out of the pulley. How difficult is this? has anyone on here had to do that before? Where can i get a replacement bolt for the tensioner pulley?

Sorry for the rambling but this is pretty frustrating seeing as i was planning on having this all finished tonight. thanks for any input.

i believe its a T45 torx... do you have one of those bits? unless its REALLY stripped

you are fine driving it around without the belt... grab a bolt extractor and get er fixed!

no i don't have one now and im not really familiar with how they work. Would an autoparts store have a replacement bolt for that pulley or do i have to special order it?

its basically a big drill bit that works in reverse forcing the bolt out backwards...

dealer might have the replacement bolt, parts store will not probably.. a junkyard/member might be the best bet

can you get a pic?

A standard bolt extractor won't help much as they are designed to work with standard right hand threaded bolts. The bolt for the pulley on the tensioner is left handed. I think that bolt takes a T47, so as stripped out as it is, you may be able to wack a T50 in there enough to at least get started loosening it. Keeping in mind you are now doing righty-loosey, lefty-tighty. Another option is to try to beat it out with a chisel.

i actually can get a T45 in it, im wondering would it be safer to make the effort to take the bolt out, or to try and crank on it again to get the belt on. im thinking the safe bet would be to try and get the bolt out.

As you've likely found, it takes a fair amount of force to push that over enough to get the belt on. If you think you can manage that in the condition it'* in - give it a try. If it were me, I'd work on getting the bolt out.
