Default Tranny not downshifting

Have a 2000 SLE that when you accelerate does not want to downshift. It will attempt to jumps back up. It will jump back and forth till you let off the gas or manually downshift. Car has 70,000 miles on it. Have not changed the fluid and filter yet. Will probably do that this weekend.

Thanks,

I'm not too familiar with your year but one thing that comes to mind as a possibility is the TPS sensor...?

Thanks Dr. Jay,
I am going to check on that as soon as I can find it. Checked the Autozone website they didn't have a location for it. Looked in the engine compartment and didn't find anything attached to the throttle that looked like it. Have a Haynes manual but it is for midsize GMs in this year range and not very good. It was the only one I could find locally. Didn't get to change the fluid/filter this weekend due to rain and other committments. Hopefully next weekend.
