Traction Control Question

My 01 SSEI will spin the tires with tthe traction control on, and this is on dry pavement.
Not a litttle chirp, but really spin the tires. Should this be happening??? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question

do you have any warning lights on your dash on?

check your wheel speed sensors to make sure they are connected... they are located behind the front rotors

toastedoats 09-10-2006 10:58 AM

yes, if your ABS light is on thenb traction controll wont work

auroralover 09-10-2006 02:09 PM

No warning lights on the dash, will check the connections....

Thanks

There is enough torque to overcome the front brakes but generally the engine management system should also retard timing and pull boost as well as apply the brakes so you may have a malfunction.....still, if there is a malfunction, it should trip the dash light.
Does the Low Traction light illuminate when this is happening :?:

MIne will do the same thing....

If I come down on it too hard leaving a stop light or spot sign it will spin them like crazy... as far as warning lights the low traction light will come on, but nothing else.... I always just assumed it was cuase I wasn't yet use to having that amount of power in the car and was trying to accelerate too fast.....

Mine too. No lights, no code.

I've heard of this happening.

It seems normal enough for those that don't over use the power too often, while others of us are restricted almost before we tap the pedal.

I would wait until winter to see if being gentle on snow does hold you back and help with traction.

This thread makes me giggle :)

I love Bonnie POWER!

Seriously, I would look for the low trac light, its possible to get even with trac control on. I would look for the trac off light or the light on the trac button. Do you have a modified PCM? I would also scan the car for body codes which will show ABS and traction issues.
