Default Catalytic rattle rattle

140,000 miles and my cat just started to rattle. Still has good power at full throttle. I don't think it'* clogged. What are the chances it will burn up and take my car with it? Can I drive it easy for a few days until I find a shop to replace it or should I just park until I get it replaced? And yes, I live in California and CARB rules suck. I don't know if I can get a shop to install a 3" cat to match my 3" exhaust or if they will only follow the letter of the law and put stock back in.

If it still have good flow, I don't believe that you will have any serious issues of overheating, especially if you take it easy on it. I've heard of people who drove their vehicles "forever" with it that way, with no concerns other than the noise.

Rod, you'll have to come on up here. We have shops that will do anything you want to your exhaust, no questions asked.

I think if you purchased the 3" Cat and took it to the shop where you live, they would install it.

California...they have to have annual inspections and emissions testing...its the most rigorous in the country.

A high flow 3" Cat will easily pass emissions testing. :?
