Default use new dexron VI for transmission fluid change?

I'm going to be changing my trans filter and fluid and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on using the new Dexron VI trans fluid?

My car is a 2001 SLE with 75,000 miles.

Thanks.

This is GM'* take on it....
A/T - DEXRON(R) VI Fluid Availability

I'd be willing to try it, and may (depending on cost) during my next change.

I think its great, BUT, I believe in Amsoil'* version. Which is even BETTER than the new Dexron VI. It is about $9 a qt, but you can run it longer and it keeps your transmission cooler, even under the most severe conditions.

Check it out.

One of the problems that I see with the Amsoil is that it is synthetic, and some have had issues crop up with the synthetic fluids.

If I remember right when I had my 95'* tranny serviced it was around $6.00 a quart at the dealer.

Thanks for the reply guys. $9 is a little high for the amsoil stuff, considering I can get the dexron VI from gmpartsdirect for around $4 per qt.

From the link above, gm recommends purging the system of dexron III fluid. I was just going to drop the pan and replace the 7 or so qts that drain out. WIll the blend just reduce the benefits of dexron VI or should I really shot for a flush?
