This is a run down on the things needed to be done to my 2001 Bonnie and what I have already done. Does anyone else have these same issues with similar year car? If not did I get a lemon and do I need to cut my costs and sell it and look for a lower mileage car? I really love this car but man the total cost out of pocket will exceed 1500 dollars for repairs to get it back into top shape:

Repairs for the Bronze Bullit 2001 Bonnie:

Radiator Leak $579

New Windshield from large crack: $150
Air Mix Actuator on drivers side: $?

Oil Pressure Guage not working Definitely the gauge since it does not fan left and right: $?

Rear Speaker Replacement : $? Can do this myself I hope with your help
Scytek Alarm system redo, so it doesn’t go off every hour or so on it’* own, probably the sensitivity or a short: $?
Slow oil seepage on the oil pan gasket: $?
That’* about it so far these are the things I need to do to the car to get it in top shape in the coming months:

Things I have done so far:

Replaced Oil Sending Unit :$40
Replaced t-stat in the coolant hose (Did this myself) $10 dollars plus my 30 minutes of time
Weld job to stop exhaust leak $197 dollars at midas
Tune UP changed wires and plugs and 2 coils. Misfire is now gone. $150
Window Tint: $130
Professional Detail: $45
Oil Change: $46 Filled with high mileage oil
Car still runs good and strong, but the radiator leak is going to be a real issue unless I get it corrected soon. It only seems to leak when the car is on and up to operating temp, I might try some BAR stop leak first.

Not a fan of the stop leak stuff, it just makes a mess through the whole system possibly clogging somwhere in the engine

It all depends on what you wanna do. Should you continue to get this car fixed by the time your done you'll truly appreciate it especially if you do alot of the work yourself. But if your interested in something thats all good and fine right now then sell. But from what you have listed it still be less money to fix than to buy a new car. I personally just finished my own personal overhaul. When i got my bonnie the thermostat was bad, the valve covers leaked, the brakes made the most god awful sound and my exhaust had a hole in it that made my car sound like a bus or dump truck. All these problems have since been resolved and even upgraded in some cases. And after all that i think im gonna be buried in my bonnie. So again it just depends on what you wanna do.

As for the radiator, rockauto has them for about $130.

but don't I need the radiator they have listed with the tranny cooler on it. Because if that is the case it is about 359 dollars for the radiator with the tranny cooler. Someone with a 2001 bonnie supercharged please chime in and let me know for sure if I need a radiator with a tranny cooler, but mobile mechanic says he could get me one for about 200 and the labor on changing the radiator is about 100. So that is much cheaper then midas! So please let me know if I can go with the cheap radiator or the most expensive one with tranny cooler on it. Also do I have a sensor on the front of my radiator I guess for low coolant level detection? The mobile mechanic asked if I had 1 with a sensor on the front of the radiator?

Well now let'* add a new window regulator for passenger window!

Hey Stinger.. Let'* talk realistically.

Time for you to research some parts/repair threads and know what the true costs and actual work involved would be so you can save some money. If you have basic tools, you can swap a radiator. And they don't cost $350. All radiators for your year car have the trans cooler built in.

Search here for a guy named Archon and regulator. You'll find where he figured out how to fix his regulator with a ~$2 bracket.

Any car can be run into the ground. Research a little time and effort and they can be restored to like new condition. Or..drive them til they drop and get a new one. Either way..cars need repairs and they cost money. A reasonable set of tools can save a guy a lot of money.

I paid just under $100 for my LIM and UIM gaskets from ZZPerformance

Window regulaters are a known problem. I cant count how many times I replaced them in the 3 bonnevilles I have owned since 2002. The good news: I can do them myself now and they are cheap. Off brands appear to work better.

We have a 2001 Bonneville SE and we are starting to restore it. Will need a transmission, shocks ( rear I can do myself. Amazon $58.00 w/ free shipping. Intake gasket (will do myself) Rack and pinion, getting a rebuilt and daul exhaust(still pricing). There are other small items but still cheaper that a new one.Have looked at all the new cars and there is nothing I like. Enjoy working on my car and enjoy the ride.
