Thermostat Seal and Thermostat Housing Gasket
There's a thermostat seal AND a thermostat housing gasket. Are both used?

Yes.
The thermostat seal is used to seal the thermostat as it's installed, giving you one way flow. The housing gasket is used to seal the housing so you don't get leaks onto your engine |
THANK YOU lash!!! :D
And if anyone asked, I was prepared to say "2000 Bonneville SE" even though that would have been a lie. ;) |

Mine didn't come with a paper gasket, and I haven't used one. I hate scraping gaskets, and swapping the 180 and 195 as temps change would make that a pain! :D
I haven't experienced any leaks. |
