When it comes to air bags I suggest letting someone that knows what they are doing deal with it. One wrong move and it goes off, or worse yet, don't go off when it'* needed.

Air Bag'* are one of the devices and system on your car that you should only have serviced by a certified mechanic. A Tech II scan will pinpoint the problem and necessary repairs made. Air Bag'* are stored energy devices that can kill and maim if they accidentally go off while working on them. Don't risk it!

Well I took my car to the shop, but they said, they can't do much, there are no codes stored, and the message center is not displaying the message anymore. It is kind of strange. It just did it on the way home from lunch today one time, has not done it since. They said I would be better off waiting to see if it come on and sets a code.

Check your ground buses for corrosion as well as your battery cables on both ends. https://www.gmforum.com/t278980/

The ground buses on your car are located on the pillars under the kick panels on the drive and passenger side. Probably not corrosion, as Dan stated below; but you may have a loose connection.

I don't think that write up applies to the 2000+ They have grounds in a different location and are far less susceptible to corrosion.

I think I will just hang tight and see if the message re-appears.. If it does hopefully it will store a code that the shop can read. I am confortable doing most anything on my car, but I don't want to accidently deploy the airbags and have a huge expense to get them replaced.. I know this is kind of an odd thought, but the drivers side heated seat, seems to have stopped working at the same time this air bag message appeared. Do you think there is any commmonality..? I can't imagine they would be in the same circuit, but isn't there sensors for the airbag in the seat..?

It is possible there is a ground problem. however, that write up shows the wrong area. I believe in the 2000+ the grounds are under the dash area in front of the doors.
