Supercharger belt
Ok guys I feel like an idiot cause I am a pretty compitant mechanic...or so I thought and this supercharger belt is kicking my butt. Here is the low down. My GF has a 2000 ESSi and one day she tells me her check engine light is on. So I look under the hood and the Idler pulley and the belt for the supercharger are missing. Not in the engine compartment just missing period. (idler pulley bearing locked up). So I buy a new belt and pulley. Put pulley on no problems but the belt Autozone gave me was like 3 or 4 inches to big so we started sizing belts for it and found one the might fit so we go to put it on and the tensioner doesn't seem to turn the right way, the only way it goes is down which adds tension and not take it away so the belt can slip on. Does anyone know what I am talking about? I did not see how it was on there to begin with and no diagrams seem to be helping me. This engine has a seperate belt for the supercharger. its a VIN L Or VIN I engine. Not exactly sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or if I figure it out I will post back

MAN! I love this site. Ok so I answered my own question just by looking around on the site. It was the way I was putting the belt on. The way I was routing it to be more specific. Thanks for all who post on here and Merry Christmas!

the engine is VIN 1 the belt you need is gator back 4060725 and here is the belt routing diagram https://www.gmforum.com/t278922/

I've had a Gatorback belt on my SC for over 30K miles and have not had any issues. The Gatorback belts are actually more likely to stay on and not fall off if you are using ribbed pulleys. Belt slippage is usually a result of the wrong belt ot a weak tensioner.

Might be a forum permission issue if it own open for VELO...or VELO found one of those mysterious older dusty posts that have bad links in them.
