help with code po134
Hey all again!
Well,I got a new ac delco o2 sensor from the dealership because the po134 code was still showing up on my odb2 scanner.
Got home installed it,went for a spin,and bam.....ses light comes again!
Got the scanner hooked up and code po134 is showing again.Now I know damn well that both o2 sensors are not bad.
I guess I would like to know what would cause the o2 sensor not to be active?Bad connection..I mad sure to chack all wires and connections and all looks good.
I am baffled,please any help would be great!

Ok I just went to the car and took out the new o2 sensor to make sure it was installed correctly and I disonected the battery terminals to make sure I start a new learning process for the pcm.I will make sure to leave the battery unplugged for at least a hour.
I read in the forums that sometimes it takes the pcm up to 3 days to learn the new data from the new o2 sensor is this true?
I also read on a tech site that if this code p0134 doesnt go away to check the connections to the pcm for the o2 sensor,,were is the pcm located at on my ssei?again thanx for any help with this!

The PCM is located in the air box, behind the filter, the air box is held in place by 2 bolt.
Normally the engine will learn pretty fast if the old O2 was really bad. But may be take some time to fully learn.
Your car is supposed to run fine with a new ne, meaning that if its still doing something wrong, look elsewhere for the problem.
EDIT: a good way to find out if you have a bad O2 sensor, is to remove it and start the car, if the car run right without, its that you have a bad O2 sensor. The engine will run on a basic air/fuel programmation.

Thanx man for the quick response right now I have the new one out and am going to reconect the battery in a few and run it without the o2 in.I am thinking maybe from what I have been reading is that I could have some kind of restricted airflow in my exaust.The exaust system seems to be making a rattling noise lately and when I had the dealership check it out they said it was just a flex pipe that was making the noise.

Do you have a scan tool, or just a code reader? Checking the FSM for diagnostics, most of it is checking for faulty wiring, or connections. The only exhaust reference is to check for a leak. It also refers to possible contaminations (Fuel, excessive engine oil, or improper RTV sealant.) Way down the list is PCM replacement.

what is rtv sealant?and I wonder if there is contamination in my fuel line like a pluged gas filter would that set off p0134?
I also read that code p0134 can be set off by a missfire,bad fuel,or a leaking injector.
and I have a code reader not a scan tool.
I know that there was no ses light on only a history in the pcm that the o2 sensor,thats y I thought to change the o2 sensor but then after changing it the ses light came on with p0134 code.I have checked everything in the wiring harnees all the way to the pcm and all looks good

The first thing to check is definatly your catalytic converter, if its fine let us know.
Thats probably the cause, because you are still getting the code.

A p0134 code indicates no signal from the front 02 sensor. If you replaced the sensor then check the wiring. Most likely it has fallen on the rear manifold somewhere and burned through or has a short. You may have to follow the wires through the harness but it is most probably a wiring problem.

I agree with Rogue on this one. This is the front o2 sensor I don't see a cat failure causing this dtc. Be sure to look at the terminals in the connector. Make sure they are not damaged causing a bad connection. Test the pink wire for 12v with ign switch in the run position. Test the black wire for good ground continuity. If they are both good let me know and I can tell you what wires to test from the pcm to the o2 sensor.
