Steering column clunking
My 2000 with 47000 miles on it has a "clunking" in the column when I turn at low speeds. Is this the intermediate shaft problem? If so is there an easy or cheap fix for this, or is a trip to the dealer for a soaking in store for me? Also I think my front rotors are warped, the car shakes like hell when I brake coming off a freeway exit braking down from 70 mph. Any suggestions on what rotors to buy for replacement? They also constantly squeal at any speed unless I turn hard left or right. Hope that's not a bearing already (47k seems like low mileage for a worn bearing already).

thats probably the intermediate shaft, ill do a vid of mine (it need replacemetn) before repair to show what is a bad intermediate shaft. Ill post it tomorow(if it clunk enought...sometimes it clunk more ,sometimes less)
An easy and temporary fix is to grease the intermediate shaft, i think you can do it yourself, but some more experienced members should tell you how since i dont did it my self. As for the vibration at 70mph, i doubt its your bearing, if it was a bearing you should always ear it (not at very low speed, depend how bad the bearing is) , while braking or not , its not a squeal its more like a vibration sound, when you turn on one side its louder and less the other side. probably your rotor . |
