Default 2003 Bonneville SSEi - ABS/TCS/TPM lights on

Hello all,

I am currently looking at a 2003 Bonneville SSEi w/ only 60K miles. Perfect condition. It'* located at a small town used car dealer. The front wheel hub was replaced by them and now there are several warning lights on. Dealer is attempting to tell me it just needs to be reset, but he does not have the proper scanning tool to do it. Will the warning lights go out on their own after the car is driven a few times? Can I just disconnect the battery to reset the computer? This is a one owner car with meticulous service records. I would like to complete the purchase, but I'm a little skeptical. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Howard

ABS/TCS/TPM light can come on for failure of several sensors, but the most common is a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor. If they replace the hub (wheel speed sensor is integral to the hub) and got an error message they can very easily reset the DTC'*. If the lights are on there likely is still a problem with either the wheel speed sensor or the wiring. Have the dealership scan the vehicle for DTC'* (diagnostic trouble codes). That will tell you what the problem is.

As far as not having the proper scanning tool, you don't need a $5000 Tech II scanner to read and reset these codes. My $100 Actron scanner will do this.
