sprk plug removal

hey everyone, im about to change the spark plugs on my "01 SSEi, and i was wondering is there any trick to changing the plugs on the rear of the motor or is it all done by feel? or is it easier from underneath? Thanks!

Nah, I always just did mine from the top. Get a long wrench and get to it! (ok, I cheated a bit and used air tools, but you should be alright)

yeah...up top with memory hands works best

I know mine isn't supercharged but I just kneeled on top of the front schroud and reached around, they came out easy and never were changed on mine, it shouldn't be too bad. :D

This is a mechanical question. Moving to 2000+....

air tools for changing plugs :?: that don't sound safe, the human touch is needed for this job.

To make the job easier, remove the strut tower brace that goes from strut to strut. It will give you a lot of extra room. Just be sure to reinstall it before driving the car.

I do plugs 2 & 4 from the passenger side, left arm through about where the power steering pump is, and use my right hand to pass down parts and tools. #6 I did from the driver's side. The plugs are the easy part, can be done by feel. Getting the boots off can be a pain. If those come off fairly easy - you're home free.

Unless you added the GXP strut tower brace, you won't have to worry about that.

go back to your pre-2000 section , there is no strut tower brace.. the firewall comes farther forward on the 00+ which makes it more difficult than previous gens ;)

Yes, be gentle when installing the plugs... my son cracked the #6 while installing it... it didn't act up until about 14k miles later...
