help with heat in 2000 SSEi
ok so i only get heat in the pass side foot well and the middle of the defroster. even with the temp turned to 90 on both driver and pass side when i change the mode i get cool air from all vents besides the pass foot well and middle of the defroster. the A/C in the car does not work due to low freon so it wont let the compressor kick on so its just sucking cold air in from the out side.
i buddy had this same prob with his 97 GTP and it was a broken vac line going into the firewall but the only thing i see going in there that looks like it could be a vacc line in right under the cabin air filter. i unplugged it and a little water came out so im guessing thats maybe a water drain for the cabin air filter? is the 2000+ cars still controlled by vacc or did they change over to the electric "flapper door" motors. if its all electric im guessing im going to hear that i need a new "head unit" type deal right?

The 2000+ is all electronic control and motorized actuators, no vacuum. This could be a lot of things (a bad position sensor, a bad actuator motor, a bad climate control head - although this one is unlikely from what you state). It'* possible that even something fell into the defrost vents and is now blocking the air mix or other door.
With a Tech 2 it'* possible to check the sensors and door travel to get a better idea of where the problem is. Since yours has the dual climate control, it'* going to be an even more complicated unit.
I know this doesn't help you fix the problem, but it does answer your original question. Whatever the problem, it should be repairable. The issue becomes how far apart you have to take it. This may not be an easy fix.

I agree. Have the system scanned with a Tech 2
Than let us know what it comes up with and we can start to help from there.
I'm not to versed with the newer A/C systems in the 2000 and up years...for now anyways

The most likely cause is a bad driver'* side air mix actuator. Remove the driver'* side hush panel, then look under the dash about in the center. This diagram shows the location of the actuator. Observe what it does while you change the temperature. If it doesn't move, or moves very little, it is probably bad. Also, make certain that your coolant is at the proper level.
