Those pins pull staight down and out, but be careful because they are easy to break. Next, pop the trim ring off around the key switch. After that, the dash trim snaps right off. Be careful, because you may have to disconnect a few wires from the various switches, etc.
Once the trim panel is off, the radio pops right out.
You can do a lot better than the BOSE speakers. The front ones are OK, but the rear 6x9'* are really bad. Definitely go aftermarket if you want something better. I put in Pioneer 6x9'* and love them. Check over on the Audio board for more info.

It will work but will loose your class 2 serial comm and some of the functions that it uses, such as door chime, hud stuff, etc.
Try a search in audio forum as this has been brought up before, there are ways around some of the stuff or you can learn to live without it?

Even though it is easy to pull the original radio out, FYI, it is kind of a big deal to completely replace the factory radio. I'm not sure about the non-BOSE system, but I think all of the new generation sound systems are fed by a single ribbon cable that contains all the power, antenna, and speaker wiring. In short, you can't just pop a new head unit in without some major rewiring...plus as Dad mentioned pulling the factory unit kills some of the features of the car.
There is lots of history and creative solutions to this issue over on the audio board, so I would scout around over there. I think I also saw that somebody is now making some sort of converter that will solve the ribbon cable issue, but I may be wrong.
