2000 SE Transmission Questions...

2000 SE Transmission Questions...
I just recently replaced a broken trans cooler line, and when the fluid drained out it was brown. That was not a happy ordeal. I bought the car used, it has 71,000 miles on it. I've put a fresh filter and fluid in it, and now it'* shifting hard and making a whining noise. Any ideas what this may be? Any solutions for this problem less replacing the tranny? Any help would be much appreciated...

It still had quite a bit of fluid in it when i took the pan down, i just put regular fluid in it. Should I have used synthetic? If I were to change the fluid, would it make a difference now?

Never use synthetic in our transmissions. You did the right thing, so we'll move on....
At this point, it looks as if something got dislodged during the temperature and fluid cycling. I'd be tempted to put some Seafoam trans-tune in there for a week or two, then have the whole system professionally flushed. There is some risk involved, rare cases of this making it worse, but at this point, I think it'* a good option for you.
I have mine flushed regularly once a year, and the car always liked it.
At this point, it looks as if something got dislodged during the temperature and fluid cycling. I'd be tempted to put some Seafoam trans-tune in there for a week or two, then have the whole system professionally flushed.
