Default Oxygen sensor wrench

A question for those who have replaced the oxygen sensors.

Where you able to use the normal length sensor socket or did you have to use one made for tight clearance?

Thanks!

They actually sell a special socket with one side notched out for the pigtail.

I use the normal sized sensor socket, but then run a couple of extenders and a swivel to give me more room to work.

I will be purchasing the special sensor socket but they offer it as a normal length and also a tight clearance one.

Sounds like the normal clearance one will work though.

You'll be able to get the regular one on just fine. The problem is that it is hard to get any leverage once you do. That'* why I've found it easier to use the extensions and the swivel to get the wrench up over the top of the engine.

I have a sensor socket, but never use it. I just put a wrench down there and turn it. No problem.

John, if you haven't already, try it with the engine warm. It comes out a lot easier then. The original in mine was in there pretty tight too.
