That'* it. I made up my mind. I'm putting one in. Where did you buy yours, how much was it, did it have adjustable settings, and what setting did you install? One other member said he installed his on low and was going to switch it to medium.

When installing a shift kit the shift modulator is taken apart. If the pistons were not moving smoothly you could have a rough shift. After the install things move better again. Along with new fluid and filter the transmission will work better. You gave it a good cleaning. Adding the shift kit is a good bonus.

The kit from Intense racing is the best one, but you pay for it. I've done several installs of the ZZP kit, and even made my own. But without new stiffer springs, the shifts just don't have that sharp feel.

Is this the one I want?

INTENSE-Racing.com: INTENSE™ Street/Strip Performance Shift Pak®

Or should I get the cheaper one?
INTENSE-Racing.com: TransGo 4T65E Shift Kit=

I have the 4T65E-HD transmission (I think).

I have not used the transgo. From the looks of it that one has springs and spacers. The intense kit has that but also a filter, and gasket .

Transgo kit installed Sat. The 1-2 and 2-3 feel firmer and without any shudder. Not a hard shift yet, but I'm not calling it a success until later this week. Still hoping to get this trans to 200K or more.

The kit was easy to install using only a picture that came with the transgo kit. I think it was $60. The kit comes with extra parts to fix about 3 issues, but the 5 springs and 3 spacers for the modulator are all I used. FIne scotchbrite on the piston bores and fresh fluid and filter completed it.

Another thing to be mindful of is any dents on the lid. These little dents, where the piston has impacted hard; can cause fluid leaks and pressure drops. I had to replace my lid. They are not repairable.

The Intense kit comes with a modulator cover gasket. Do I need to buy a transmission cover gasket, use RTV or re-use the one that is there?

I just used the old gasket. It looked pretty beefy. I actually read about inspecting the cover, then forgot to do it. Doh! I'll report back in a few days of highway cycles to see if tranny behaves.
