Default Can anyone identify these problems 2000 Bonneville SLE

New to the forum and I am not real knowlegable when it comes to cars. Back in September, I bought a used 2000 Bonneville SLE and bought an extended warranty. Since purchasing it, I've had the following problems and I am hoping someone can tell me what they are when I take them in to get fixed.

Problems:
1) When I turn the fan on high, or close to high, it gets really loud. It sounds like a lawn mower is blowing the air in. It works, but I have to keep it keep the air medium to low in order for it to be tolerable.

2) It doesn't happen all of the time, but when the car is shifting gears (I don't have to be going fast either, it can happen from 0-20 mph), it will jump, like someone rear ended me. I usually do city driving, I am not a maniac and racing the hell out of my car, but I was wondering if someone has experienced this with their Bonneville and or knows what it is to have it fixed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've not experienced either of these (well my car does tend to jump likes it kicked at WOT) but i'm sure some of the gearheads will kick in here pretty soon.

Not sure on the trans, as I don't have the 4T65, but for your fan, I'd check to see if the cabin air filter is installed. 2000 was the first year they used one, and if it'* not installed, it may be too loud.

Your fan motor may be bad, or there might be something in there.

The trans sounds like it needs to be checked by a good tranny shop.

When my 2000SSEi had about 25,000 miles on it, it starting shifting abruptly but not all the time. I took it in and they said they cleaned the valve body. I never have had any problems since.

Almost positive that the SLE'* have the 4T-60 tansmissions in them and not the heavy-duty 4T-65'* in the SSEi'*,.....that being said,I've had no similar transmission quirks with my '00 SSEi (40K miles)as you have explained them,......could be torque converter related or something to do with the valve body,...my guess.

if you purchased an extended warranty, you likely will have those issues covered if you take it back to the dealer. Check that first, then take it to Pontiac and let them figure it out! I have heard about a cabin air filter falling apart and a portion of it rubbing against the fan when it is on high speed. You might want to check that.

As far as the tranny goes, that is not right. You should get that looked at (since it sounds like you have warranty).

Good luck, keep us posted!

Hopefully you won't have this problem, but I just had to put a new transmission in my 2000 SSEi (4T65 transmission). The torque converter apparently let go, and really screwed up the transmission.

If you are having transmission problems, I would get it looked at pretty quick
