2000 SSEi riding like a truck!
My mom came home from work today and asked me to take her car for a drive because she said she thought something was wrogn with it.. Well I did and couldn't believe how horribly the car was riding. Every bump you would hit would jar the car really hard and it was bouncing all over horribly. IT rides worse than a truck with a heavy duty suspension. a few bumps would make me hit the ceiling it was bouncing so hard. any ideas on what could be up with it? It just started doing it today she said. It'* definately coming from the rear end. The shocks seem abnormally stiff or something but the ride height is normal.

I had the same problem today too!!! This the first time its been down around 20 this year and the car rode HORRIBLE on the way home from work. I couldn't believe it. It felt just as you described. I wonder if it is really the cold weather b/c I have new front struts, not haven't done the rear ones.

well she said it was still riding really rough today so I pulled the fuse for the ELC and hopefully the problem will go away. it just seems like the shocks are bad or something. They are extremely stiff feeling. The car only has 51,000 miles on it too.

well, she said that the car is riding much better today... she also made this comment. "I don't know what you did but you got rid of this annoying sound that kept coming from the rear of my car. It was just like this bbrrrrrr sound that would come on every few seconds and I don't know what it was but it'* gone now."
Sounds like the Bonneville'* having a problem with the rear shocks being inflated constantly. maybe a bad level sensor?

I'm wondering though, Is it possible for the ELC sensor arn to get frozen into place? Causing the Pump to run on.... ?
If the pump keeps running and the Air shock pump up..... It will ride like a brick... Even 35 psi in my 95 is as stiff as a board.... 20-22 seems to be the magic number... I couldn't imagine them at 80-90 or 100ish psi... LMAO

well, the Bonneville is at an Oldsmobile dealer right now being serviced. They said the air pump for the ELC is bad and that it needs to be replaced. Total cost to fix $648. It just doesn't make sense to me hwo it could be the pump? It still comes on (almost constantly) but even with the fuse removed the car STILL rides horrible. If it were the pump wouldn't it just not come on at all?
