SSEI Tires and Steering problem

SSEI Tires and Steering problem
I have factory Goodyear Eagle RSA tires (235 55 R17'*) on my SSEI and am having terrible steering problems in light snow and icing conditions. There is lots of tread left having only 48,000 Km'* on them. Other vehicles pass me like they are on dry pavement. I feel like I am hydroplanning. Any one experience this? I have had the dealer check out the steering and they say there is no problem. They say I need softer rubber. :?:

Check Tirerack.com, you can compare tires to others and there pretty cheap. I've looked at GoodYear tires there, and the survey results sucked, and most of the people said they wouldn't buy them again. Personally I think Good Year is overpriced and not that good of tires. Ya if you go to tire rack you will see how the results are. Hydroplaing is bad on Good Years, and snow traction. I suggjest to go there just to see how good the results are on tires, before you buy new ones. I'm thinking of getting Kumho ECSTA. All around good tires. There Grand Touring All-Season too, so it wouldn't hurt my hanlding.

I'm a fan of Good Year, but only for truck tires. Comparing how your tires rate against others would be a good idea. If you decide to replace them, Toyo'* have been great on mine.

The RSA'* are treaded for smooth highway ride. Goodyear has tried to combine the best of ALL worlds in this tire...meaning they have ended up with a mediocre tire.

You can see that Goodyear makes many tires that are better than the RSA.
As for you snow/ice handling problems, keep in mind that you have some pretty wide tires. Even in a little snow, they will "plow" some snow in front of them and cause some loss of traction. Get used to it, slow down and be thankful that winter is almost over.

I had a couple of sets of GY Eagles on previous cars. I always loved them until now. I think it must be the RSA model is just not their best effort, because the others were pretty darn good all season tires.
