Default oil pressure gauge reading 117 lbs at idle!

Well tonight as i was leaving flaming daves I look down at the oil pressure gauge and it is reading 117 lbs and as the engine speeds up it gets closer to 120. So now my question is what is going on with my car. The theft system keeps telling me to service it and the compass always needs calibration, seems after i installed the stereo system it is causing all these mild and wild problems. Any ideas on what is happening with the oil pressure gauge? i have the other things figured out.

Sending unit on the oil pressure gauge is going out. Mine died about 6 months ago, just haven't took time to replace it. I reckon it is a DIY job. As for the other problem with the compass, I would say the speakers in your system is what is causing that. A compass is greatly affected by a magnet, and that is what your subs have...huge magnets.

Check back a few pages on the P&B forum and also the 00-05 forum. There is another member having the same problems as you, just slips my mind which forum I saw it in.

Peace,
Tim

was your engine cold? My engine when it'* cold will read up to 110 PSI when it'* cold. When it'* totally warm it can read as low as 17 PSI at idle. (which is normal for my engine.) What weight of oil are you running? If it'* 10W 30 I'd say it'* definately possible to have that kind of oil pressure especially considering how cold it is right now. What is your WARM oil pressure at idle?

I think your Oil Pressure Sensor is faulty and needs replacement.

I agree with Mark, we've seen quite a few of our vehicles do this very thing. On the compass being off. Some of the 92-99 people had that issue when adding speakers and subs. Best solution was found to be relocating the compass module. Typically it'* located in the trunk.

yeah not woried about the compass thing. I went and priced a sending unit and it was 60.00 at schucks, going to auto zone tommorow. Bonny normally reads about 40+ cold or hot after warm up the level only drops by a few pounds if any. I really need to do the solid motor mount though so after the sending unit the motor mount is next.
