Default Vehicle leads to left

Greetings,
Looking for some information concerning my 2000 SE Bonneville (178,000 miles). When Vehicle is turned to the left the vehicle leads to the left. I will continue to lead to the left until I make a right turn. Now the vehicle tracks straight. Any Thoughts?? I have inspected the struts (new), control arm bushings, tie rod ends and all seemed to be fine. I did notice a slight clicking noise from the rack near the left inner tie rod end while moving the steering wheel with engine off. Additionally, vehicle does not have the varible steering. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

Might take it in and check the front end alignment. You might have something out just a bit.

Hey Bake what ya cooken?

jk

Welcome to the Club

struts are new but how old are the strut bushings?
bad bushings could bind up, so when you turn left and straiten out the bushings are still wanting to go left.

i would agree with puplehazier. if the camber or even caster angles were off, it could cause the steering to feel tight or no returnability of the steering wheel. How are your tires wearing?

Thanks everyone....My tires are wearing great and regarding the strut bushings, do you mean the strut bearings on top, because I replaced them as well when the struts were done. I quess it is possibly the alignment is out but my on-center feel and returnabilty of the wheel are fine as long as I do a right turn after I do a left.

I had the same symptoms with my high-miles '91 Bonneville. It was the strut bearings. As I recall, they cost as much or more than the struts themselves.

The strut bearings would "stick" and cause the coil spring to wind-up.

It was really strange like you said; sometimes it would track straight, and then it would have this terrible pull. I would "reset" it by backing up fairly quickly and hit the brakes. This apparently unloaded the front end and the bearings.

Are you sure the bearings were replaced?
Is it possible it was assembled wrong somehow?

(that '91 was a nice ride!)

This is what I was trying to to him few posts back but I used the wrong term

He did have them replaced when he did the front struts.
And they are cheap..mine where about $16 a piece.
