Default These doors are really giving me the red ***!

2000 ssei...i've posted before about my problems with my door functions not working so i'll give a quick summary: #1-no buttons work on my drivers, left rear, and right rear doors..only my passenger front door works..my passenger rear door use to work but now it doesnt. and before it quit working my driver info was telling me that particular door was ajar when i know it wasnt. it would give me that warning off and on for a couple weeks before that door quit working..#2-all the door lights DO WORK, as well as the keyless entry..#3-checked the brown/white strip wire under my drivers seat, thats good..checked for corrosion under my fuse box, looks brand new..grounds, everything looks brand new..im gonna take it to a dealer this weekend and pay $125 to have them Tech 2 the car, so this is my last ditch effort for any suggestions..could it possibly be my BCM?

It could just be that the buttons themselves went bad.

i tried the door lock switch from the functioning passenger side door, and it did not work on the drivers side...then i took the drivers side door lock switch and plugged it into the passenger side and it worked fine so im not really sure its the switches..

Default Door switches

Just replaced mine today. I had one that had failed for down postion and one that failed for up position. weird because I swapped to verify it was the switch. You can alwals pop one out and try on the other side. Another way to test is take it completly apart and jump between ground and up or ground and down.

This definitely sounds like a supply or ground issue to me. The door ajar message would indicate an open circuit that is normally closed by the door switch itself. An open wire would give the same indication. However, if there is a module controlling the operation of all those functions, it too could be failing. Electronics do fail, but they are generally more reliable than wiring harnesses which can see a lot of stress over their lifetime if they move a lot. If I had schematics handy, I could possibly help you narrow it down as I have over 25 years experience as an equipment maintenance tech with a degree in electronics.

If you have an ohm meter, locate the ground return on your door switch and measure the resistance between that point and chassis ground. It should show little or no resistance. If you have any of the switches still working, put your meter on the dc volt setting and measure that switch to see what a properly operating switch has in the way of voltage.

Hope this helps,

Greg B.
