Radiator Fans-One not working

I have a 2000 SSEi and only one fan turns on when the car is hot. If I am not moving the car will get hot during 100 degree days and the warning light has come on a few times, but once I get moving the temp will down to 200.

Do I have a relay issue or is the fan broken?

I have 146K on the car.

Thanks for the help.

Check the fuse and the relay in the under hood fuse block.

Keep in mind the fans do not come on at the same time. IIRC your secondary fan won't kick in until 235ish if all conditions are met. You may have a problem other than the fans.

I would get a 180* Thermostat

In order for a 180* thermostat to be effective you need to also need to have your fans reprogrammed.

how do u go about doing that? Do you have to do that on the 1992-1999 Bonnevilles Also?

The setting has to be changed in the PCM with a tuner. That applies to the pre 2000 bonnevilles as well. The 180* thermostat will have the coolant flowing, but without adjusting the fans they will not come on which means unless your driving you have no air flow through the radiator.

What temp should the first fan come on at?
