Creaking Trunk Lid
Bringing her in today to finally fix an annoying creak every time the trunk opens or closed.
Sounds like its got arthritis
Dealer says it'* common with the rod spring type. They have to remove the rods and lube them up.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

It turned out to be the ends of the rods. They have a plastic bushing that covers the end and nests in the metal notch.
Had to pry it down and force silcone grease around it.
Good as new again.
....But Damn GM didn't cover it under my extended warranty and it cost me $30 bucks for 15 minutes work.
I know how to do it now so I won't be taking it back there again.
I tried before taking it in to spray silicone lube all around it but it didn't work.
Prying it down and greasing it was the only way to rid the creaking.

Mine does a similar deal with the creaking every time I open & close trunk. So there was no real disassembly of springs, just lube the bushing ends and that seems to resolve the prob. I'll have to investigate doing that to mine, thanks.
