Electrical Problems
Man I am having all kinds of problems with the electrical in my car. Here are the problems:
- Power locks don't work (from inside the vehicle or with alarm keypad)
- Interior Lights don't turn on
- Taillights don't work (reverse lights are out when I am in reverse)
- Trunk does not open (while in the car or with the alarm keypad)
- Horn was giving me problems (alarm would go off)
I checked the battery in the alarm keypad. Works fine. Any ideas ? In my area I seen more than a few 2000+ Bonneville'* with their tailights out, could this be a problem ? :?:
Thanks,
Ridic

There is no common denominator to your problems, did they all start to act up at once?
- check the back up light relay, you can swap with a simillar one to test. Also check the fuse if have'nt already.
- check for a loose connection in your daylight sensor mounted on the dash, this will prevent the interior lights from working.
- the horn might be a faulty theft deterent module, have it scanned.

Where can I find the connection for the daylight running thing ?
I am going to check the fuses and the back up lights today and see if that helps.
My alarm is a factory alarm

The daylight sentinel is on top of your dash (little turret looking thing).
Will be hard to get to the harness though.
Good luck with the rear tail lights.

Ok, I checked the back tail lights and I seen that some of the plugs where the lights go (back up lights, turn signals) They looked like they are a bit burned. Would this cause the problem ?

Yes but not sure how they got burnt? Is there a pich point in the harness somewhere along the rear light assembly? Did you put in after market turn signals, backup lights?

I dont know what bulbs you put in but to start you should replace any of the burnt wires. Just replace one at a time as not to get mixed up. You can use butt slices but solder is better and be sure and tape everything back up when finnished. Then put your old bulbs back in, the new ones must have caused a fault.

It really isn't the wires that are burned, it'* the part where you plug the bulbs into. The inside looks a little burned. The lights works, what happens is when I have the car in park or drive and I push the brake, the driver side light goes out and the reverse lights turn on. It'* weird. My informed me of this before and I am just trying to avoid getting pulled over by the cops for this. Should I take it in ?
