Default operating temperature?

Just purchased an 01 Bonne SE...
I am in MN cold weather climate.
It seams to warm up slow. Once warmed up temp gauge will go to just over 200 in traffic. Is this normal? Or is this a symptom of needing a new thermostat or something worse?
I have three days to return the car for a different one. So appreciate your expedited response and feedback.
Thanks

The temp is normal.
Even if you pop in a new 180 stat, in traffic the rad is only marginally sized to cool the engine and trani.
Bahhh.....1/2" thick rad core is laughable.

Default Operating temp

I work in MPLS (stay in New Hope during the week) and live in Willmar MN on weekends. I am thinking this morning it was blowing cool/warm air for about 10 minutes of running time (gauge stayed around 160 or so). After about 30 minutes at creeped to just a hair over 200 at stop in traffic.
Thanks

I'm up in Alex with a 2001 bonnie....or is it 2000??? Anywho, how do you have your temps set? I have mine on auto and normally set to around 80 degree'*. Because it has been a bit colder than normal this winter so far, it takes about 3 mintues to turn on with the automatic settings Oh, mine is dual climate controls also. Make sure if you have this both are set the same!
