POSSIBLE SUPERCHARGER OIL OVER FILL?
 

Hello all... Maybe any one can give me some insight on this.. It started with my supercharger making noise so I checked the oil and notice that I could add more so I did.. I added oil all the way to the rim infact the car was in a slant so more can go into the supercharger nose.. the noise never went away .. however I noticed that the inside of hood had oil that looked like it was coming from supercharger pulley location I cleaned it off and checked it again after a few days of driving and it stopped.

So after a little research I found that the noise was from the supercharger coupling.. so I took the front supercharger nose off after syringing oil out and cleaned replaced the coupling and again topped off with oil...noise gone! its been a few days now and supercharger is no longer making that rattle noise but, after looking under hood I notice that the same area on hood has oil on it...

Now, is possible that I am overfilling the oil in supercharger and as I am driving and turning left the oil is running towards pulley and spitting out? Because it is not spitting out when I rev the motor when stationary.

That's normal for oil to come out like that. Unless your doing 3g left turns. Typical failure of the supercharger is the plastic couplings. The little holes tend to egg shape themselves and make like a marble in can noise. You should have replaced them.

What kind of oil are you using in it?

Thanks for the reply.... I did replace the coupling it was pretty easy..i used 5w30 mobile.. info I got hear on gm forums...So its ok that oil from supercharger spits out I am guessing?

Yea, its automatically purging itself of excess oil. If you look close at the pulley bolt, you will see its actually a stone material. It keeps most of the oil in, but allows excess out.

I find it a little odd for oil to spit out being normal...I'm just hoping there is to much oil in there...should I worry that it is all gonna spit out?

No, it shouldn't. Once you've driven it for a day, recheck the oil. You should still see it just inside the hole. Mine did the same thing.

On level ground, you fill to the bottom thread of the hole and put the plug back in.....oil should not be coming out....if it is, you have a leak at the nose cone seal....amazing, the cost of OEM supercharger oil......
