Default transmission, or PCM?

This is going to see like a really odd problem, but I'll ask it anyways. The transmission on my Aurora always has shifted very firm since I bought it. You can feel every shift. It'* a quick firm shift each and every time. (it'* a 4t65E with the 3.27 gear ratio.) My brother'* 2000 SLE with the same transmission shifts smooth. You can almost never feel it shift. My question is if there might be something wrong with my transmission, or if it has more to do with maybe the PCM programming between the two cars? It'* very apparent on the aurora though, the shifts can even be called rough at times when shifting. the aurora has 44K miles, the bonneville has 62. Even the SSEi shifts smoother. Just curious why you can feel the shift very apparent on one 65E then on another you don't feel a thing. Odd. :?

Your correct it is the pcm.
The bonneville comes with very agressive torque managment and the General is protecting its tranny warranty.
A simple shift improver kit will take away that sluggish no feel transmission and bring it to life with firm quick shifts. Also an after market pcm will increase tranny line pressure adding to the firmmer shift experience.

You should feel lucky if anything. A firm shift is 10 times better than a soft one. That'* part of the problem with mine is i think it'* too soft, but there'* no fancy computer for mine. Good old vacuum modulator.

Talk to me about this shift improver kit............something a tranny shop does? Or are you talkign about a shift kit? As in different springs, washers etc.? The one where you drop the valve body and make the changes......and what'* the better way to go for the tranny itself....shift kit to firm up shifts, or line pressure increase to firm up shifts?

You can do it yourself, about 1 hour time with simple hand tools.
You dont need to pull the valve body out but will need to replace the fluid and filter.
It comes with instructions that are easy to follow. You can get one here.
