PCV location on my 03?
 

can anyone tell me where the pcv is located at, i looked all over the valve cover area and cant find it, thanks

The PCV is located on top of the supercharger towards the drivers rear of the S/C. It is under a little plate that has 2 bolts holding it down. The plate actually (atleast on my SSEi) has PCV stamped into it.

What makes you think that you need to replace it? Or are you just figuring out where everything is?

well the car has 20k on it and i know it wasnt changed, i just like to change the pcv once a year, thanks for the info

i just changed it, i didnt know it was spring loaded, thats the first time ive seen a setup like that, why isnt there a hose connected to the pcv, and there's just the spring there right becasue when i popped it off the plate flew, gasket still ok just want to make sure there wasnt anything else that flew with the plate

PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation. It is supposed to keep pressure from building up in the crankcase.

I don't know if I would just be replacing things because you have reached 20k miles... I'm at close to 40k and I know for a fact that the PCV hasn't been changed and I'm not worried one bit about it.

There are signs that let you know that the PCV is going bad or has gone bad. One of them is excessive oil consumption. When there is pressure in the crankcase, more oil will be forced into the cylinders via the rings and should be noticeable in your routine fluid level checks (if you have a routine).

Personally, I check all of the fluids once a week to make sure that they are all topped off. If anything has changed (that shouldn't have), I take note of it in a log that I keep. It's the best way to notice problems before they become major issues.

Typically, the PCV is located in a valve cover and has a hose that runs to engine vacuum. I believe that with the L67, it is connected via internal passages to both crankcase & intake (engine vacuum).

I do not know where it is on an S2 N/A... Sorry.

Yes, someone please help. I change my PCV valve in every car I've had at least once a year. So, I don't want any lectures about the "evils of changing a PCV valve". What I would appreciate knowing is where the PCV valve is located on my 2000 SE. I have a factory service manual and there is NOTHING in it about a PCV valve. Someone please help.

Geez. Someone's a bit jumpy today. Your first post in this thread and you accuse people of lecturing... I wasn't lecturing anybody, just didn't want anyone to be dumping money down the drain for no good reason. Just because you do it every year doesn't mean that it is something that needs to be replaced that often.

I'm just letting others know that just because you replace it every year, it doesn't require changing ANY WHERE near that often so other's don't waste thier time and money.
