Ok, guys. I need my brakes changed. Like, now. And i promised myself that whenever this happened i was going to do an all-around upgrade to them. Now i've perused a whole lot of threads here on how others have gone about their upgrades and what to do. I just wanted to start a single thread (for myself) to get a final thought on it.

What'* a bigger, better, simpler way to upgrade the brakes all around? I want everything to be done. A bigger rotor, better calipers, better pads, stronger lines. I know, one of the better "basic" ways to go about it is to gather up a GXP'* brakes. But those are hard to come by, and require a slight mod or two from what i've seen/heard. I've also seen/heard that getting some F-body brakes is a great way to go. Without needing any mods. I think.

I don't really care about them being aftermarket, stock, used (to a degree, of course). I just want them better overall. And soonest.

If your not worried about breaking the sound barrier, than I would just keep the stock size as they are and upgrade the pads to ceramic and rotors to slotted and drilled. You can do the same to the rear, but its not necessary. Remember, its a split system. 80% of breaking is done up front and 20% is done in the rear. Hope this helps.

Indeed. Thanks guys. Helps. Well, stock is okay Mike, but we know the GXP'* are better anyway and it'* better in no small part due to the dual pistoned calipers. I think anyway. In either case, i'd rather have more substantial calipers and wanted to know what other vehicles i could look toward for compatible upgrades. I do definitely wanna go with the ceramic pads and slotted rotors at least - that was already part of the plan. I mainly just wanted to know if i needed bigger rotors or should even get bigger rotors to go with some better calipers than what comes on stock SSEis.

The F-body upgrade is what i keep seeing. And those notes on the LeSabre upgrade make it seem possible. That is to assume that the Buick has similar rims to a Bonneville anyway. I could be happy with the same size rotors, as long as i get some better stopping power out of just a caliper and pad upgrade.

Wait. Can anyone point me in the direction where i can get the compatible dual pistons then? I am not having the kind of luck i would like in finding them. At least, i am not sure if i'm looking for the right ones.
