P0336 code Crank Position Sensor
 

I just had a code read and it gave me a P0336 which is the crank position sensor. Could someone give me an idea of where it would be on a 2000 Bonneville SSEI. And would it be fairly easy to change out myself.

Changing the sensor is easy, but you will have to remove the harmonic balancer, the large pulley (crank pulley) on the bottom of the motor. And that can be a pain if you don't have air tools. You'll need a special puller to remove the balancer.

Once the HB is off, the crank sensor is on the right side (towards the front of the car) of where the pulley was, behind a plastic shield.

:D I've got the air tools, no problem there. Sounds like I'll just have to remove the plastic fenderwell and then the pulley. I might be able to get the puller from AutoZone on loan I hope.

I'm also wondering if it might be broken teeth on the crank itself for the sensor. Sorry, I forget what that part is called.

The teeth would be on the harmonic balancer. I believe that you will need special bolts to fit it, that do not come with the kit. I think that they're M6.
