I haven't been around for a while, due to a busy work schedule, but spring is here and I am starting to get some spare cash to put towards car maintanence. I have a list of things that I would like to FINALLY get around to, including fixing my A/C (the compressor went last year and I put a new one in, but it had a leak somewhere), fixing a stability system code, and FINALLY getting around to my lower intake manifold. I have never done anything as involved as the LIM gasket, but have looked through the techinfo on it. I wanted to be sure of some things before I ordered the parts, etc.-

1. Since my car is Super-Charged, the UIM gasket is not needed correct? I only need to do the LIM gasket?

2. The aluminum GM gasket is the way to go?

3. Are their any other parts that I will need or should replace while I'm in there?

4. How do I drain out all of the coolant?

1 there is still a gasket between the sc and the LIM. some listings will call it the upper intake, even though the sc has replaced an upper intake.

2 yes, go with the aluminum, or fel-pro at the very least.

3 bypass elbow, inj o-rings, t-stat, maybe more, but thats all i can think of right now

4. there is a drain plug at the bottom of the radiator on the drivers side. do a flush with some water before you put the new coolant in.

You will need to remove the supercharger and replace the o-rings and gasket between it and the LIM.

As Wes suggested, coolant elbow, o-rings for the injectors, thermostat, t-stat gasket, plus blue threadlocker for the LIM bolts, coolant, brake parts cleaner, gasket scraper. If you haven't done so in a while, you may want to remove the throttle body and clean it, the MAF sensor (carefully), and the IAC passages and pintle. If you do the TB work, you will need a new TB gasket.

By removing the knock sensors, but you don't want to do that for a lot of reasons. Thanks for the replies! I will be ordering these parts in about 2-3 weeks once I get paid on some things. As for the T-Stat- I live in Mass.- do you think I should go with a 180* thermostat? Or stick with 195*?

I noticed in the write up on the LIM that many of the people here have gone with the 180*, but it states that there are reasons you may not want to do that in certain climates.

I run a 195F in the winter, and change it out to a 180F in the summer. I like the lower temperatures in the summer to take the strain off my transmission.

Not to dig up a couple week old thread, but I'm about to order these parts when I get paid this week coming up. I want to make sure I order all of the right things:

1. GM Aluminum LIM Gasket, Part #89017816
2. GM Coolant Bypass Elbow, Part #24503423
3. Supercharger Gasket, Part #?????- Any help would be appreciated!
4. Fuel Injector O-Rings- AIRTEX Part # 1G1018 (Rock Auto)
5. 180* T-Stat (I'll put the stock in during the winter)- Gates PN: 33428S
6. T-Stat Gasket- Fel-Pro PN: 35666
7. I have a throttle body gasket already.

I know I will also need some cleaner. coolant, blue thread locker.

Also, while I'm doing this, and have things apart, I am going to replace the valve cover gaskets because I have been noticing an oil burning smell when I am going up a hill slowly or stopped. I figure while I have everything apart, I may as well fix this too.

8. GM Valve Cover Gasket- PN: 24503937.

Do I need to order 1 or 2 of these? $13 seems cheap.
