oil pressure to high
 

ok my 02 bonnie's oil pressure is reading 120 constantly. When u turn the car on it goes straight up to 120psi. Is that bad for the car? Could it just be a bad sensor? The oil level seems to be ok. The type of oil im using is the valvoline middle grade. Not the regular conventional oil and not the synthetic. Does n e 1 know if i should be worried? Please let me know asap because my car is under warranty and if it is a problem i would want to get it looked at and fixed right away. THANKS BTW, car has 70800 miles if that makes a difference.

Your oil sending unit probably needs replaced.

is it a big problem? Should i get it replaced ASAP?

The biggest problem at this point is that you have no way of knowing what your oil pressure may be. If you developed a problem, you wouldn't know it. It's not absolutely critical, but you really shouldn't dawdle too long, either.

how exactly do i change out the sensor. I called the parts store and they told me its only 30 bucks. Is it easy? And do i really have to drain the oil and take the passenger tire off? Or could i just get under the car?

You'll find it near the oil filter. It just unscrews, after your remove the electrical connector. You do not have to drain the oil, but some have found it easier to do by removing the oil filter. You can do it from underneath, but it is easier from the passenger wheel well.

got it taken care of. It was still a pain in the a** even though i took the tire off! I had to buy a swivel for the socket! Getting it off was the hard part but gettin it on was easier. But it fixed the problem. THANKS AGAIN! BTW, what do u do to get it out? What tools do u use and what procedure do u do when u take the oil press sending unit out? Is there an easier way? Also, socket or wrench? like a 1 1/26 wrench or just a wrench?

I believe that they make a special split socket, similar to the one for an O2 sensor. However, when I did it on a friend of mines car, I used a large crescent wrench to break it free, and a set of channel locks to spin it out.
