Oil Pressure Gage on High?

What does it mean when your oil pressure gage is all the way to the maximum?

I have a 2002 Bonne with almost 95K miles. I noticed today on the way home from work that my oil pressure gauge was all the way to the right (max). The car sounded and rode fine, but needle on that gauge is usually somewhere in the middle. When I got home, I checked my oil level and I was totally full - I'm still about 1250 miles away from my next oil change.

Is this something I should worry about? A sign of something else?

thanks all

Check where the wires plug in to the sensor. Pull the plug and clean it up. If this does not fix the problem then the sensor might have gone bad.

Sounds easy enough, but where is the sensor?

The owners manual does not divulge such secret information, and I can't exactly tell one thing from another. Hopefully it's not something I need to get under the car to find.

thanks again!

Opps, my bad, I should have moved it.

Hmm, I believe that's under the water pump on the rear passenger side

As of today, 4 members have this problem. My mechanic missed with all 3 censers to find out the problem was. Tthe steps he took.

1. Remove the oil cap, if oil comes gushing out...try to put it back on and turn the car off. i.e. Bonnie is down for awhile.

2. If the oil is not spraying everywhere, good, move to the censer. As for the location, yes its under the car.

My censer was located near the pan and looked like an olive green 3/4 nut. He simply screwed out the old and replaced it with a new one. He also told me that if it was at 120psi that the engine would have a slight ping sound to it.

It cast me 60 bucks for the censer and it works great! Good luck.

I just repaired mine. The sending unit was bad, Cost me 84 in town. Seemed steep compared to what I have seen talked about here. But it is fixed! Thanks for the suggestions and help! This forum is awesome!
