stalling - no SES light

stalling - no SES light
I've had an interesting problem arise with my 2001 SLE. Sometimes - maybe once a week - the car will completely stall as it is getting close to operating temp. It will restart and then runs fine. Could the crank position sensor cause this problem so intermittently? I replaced the ignition module and checked resistance in the coils. Any thing else I should be looking at?

do you have any other symptoms? is your tachometer acting strange? do you have any other performance/drivability issues at all? Is the whole car dying or just the engine?

If it just dies as if someone turned off the key, try checking and cleaning all of your connections, power and ground, on the battery and cables, as well as the under seat, and under hood fuse box. Make sure that they are clean and tight.

Only the motor dies....I coast to the side of the road and restart. I have not experienced any other driveability problems - but a couple of weeks ago - she felt like she was going to stall - the tach dropped to zero and stayed there. The car didn't stall - but the tach remained dead until the next restart.

Interesting. I'll give that a try and see if there are any changes. The real frustration has been how intermittent the problem is. I can go weeks without an issue - then it reappears! Thanks for the suggestion.
